Hawkesbury concrete pavers used in classically designed rural garden setting

Built in 2005 this country homestead sits atop a 400 acre working cattle farm in NSW’s Upper Hunter Valley and was awarded regional construction of the year 2008. Designed by Michael Cooke Garden Design and built and maintained by Nature’s Vision Landscaping this rural home was a comprehensive landscaping project.

Set amid the rolling pastures of Australia’s famous wine region, climate, drought and appropriate irrigation systems all posed challenges to the success of this landscape project. Plant selection was hugely important and needed to allow for frost hardy species that were also drought tolerant. Extensive gardens were developed throughout the immediate house paddock incorporating various paved areas and pathways using Hawkesbury Architectural Concrete pavers. Large scale driveway works were also undertaken and work seamlessly with the overall size of the landscape. The large garden and lawn area gradually reduce in scale from avenue plantings down to a herb garden, all of which are irrigated using harvested water. The end result is a perfectly integrated rural garden, that allows for the scale of the property but also the intimate needs of a family garden.

Ongoing maintenance has ensured this grand scale rural retreat has thrived even in the East Coast’s tough climate.
