Built of stone, the home has been designed to discretely weave its way into the surrounding landscape, while making the most of the expansive panoramic views. The strong relationship between the indoor and outdoor space, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass, makes every effort to capture the serene spirit of location.

The materials have been carefully selected to avoid distracting from the property’s inherent beauty, and instead the warm, sympathetic palette has been used to reinforce the unique surroundings and the agricultural use of the land.

“The design poetically layers a complex program including agricultural operations, utility infrastructure, auxiliary structures, sculpture, orchards, gardens, follies, and domestic life.”

Contemporary design has been married together with tactile, raw stone and natural timbers. The homeowners’ art collection and eclectic furnishings blend seamlessly with the materials palette. A liner reflecting pool running due north-south, acts to orient the home to the rolling hills clad with vines. All details which have created not only a well-designed home, but one that’s livable and meets the client’s brief.

The openness of the building, together with the connection to the outdoor amenities makes it easy to imagine soaking up the Sonoma temperate climate and revelling in the beauty of the vineyard and surrounding mountain-scape.
