Armadale Residence

B.E Architecture delivered a sense of permanence in the design of Armadale Residence by celebrating stone in all its glory. The power of using one palette of materials is revealed in the master bedroom en-suite where Fallow Granite is specified to create a custom bath and vanity.

Engineered from solid blocks to achieve a dense, textural finish the result is in a monastic stone tub and fluid form that is balanced by the translucent quality of the honed Fallow Granite.

Federation House

In the rear contemporary extension of this Melbourne Federation home, Hecker Guthrie opted to use Spanish Seville Project Stone as a key material. Large format stone tiles create a transition from the original section of the home into the modern shaped space.

Generous custom slabs of Seville Project Stone were used to create a kitchen island bench and cantilevered dining table which sets the tone and provides a dramatic focal point to the double height void above.

St Vincents Place Residence

By placing emphasis on materiality, B.E Architecture has once again created a visually strong and timeless bathroom using a singular palette of Fallow Granite. The custom curved stone tiles, sinks and bath are all carved from the same stone, yet the variance in finishes creates a differing tactile experience.

Throughout the home, B.E Architecture has been able to create an artful balance between a classical aesthetic and a minimalist sensibility.

‘Home: feast, bathe, rest’

Arent&Pyke have emphasised the bespoke through their ‘Home: Feast, Bathe, Rest’ Rigg Design Prize installation. Exploring the domestic living, the design team have showcased two large stone pieces to define a bathing space.

Carving a vessel into the side of one of the pieces of Luca Split Stone, Arent&Pyke’s stonemason polished the interior to highlight the contrast against the raw surrounding stone. The other sculptural piece is clad in smooth Luca Split Stone and finished with an aged brass top and a crystal sculpture by artist Lisa Cooper.
